10 Best Treehouse Of Horror Episodes

9. Treehouse Of Horror XII

The Simpsons Treehouse Of Horror
20th Century Fox

Next up is an outlier, an episode outside of the first 10 seasons, very much after the golden era of The Simpsons. However, it is an outlier for a reason, it features three classic segments, one of which is an all time favourite for many.

The episode opens with Hex and the City which sees Homer ruining the reputation of a gypsy and the resulting curse she casts on him. This allows for a lot of interesting transformations of many of our favourite characters. Centaur Lisa, Ladybird Maggie, Pickled Moe, and many others. The segment also features the death of Bart Simpson, who drowns in his cereal after being unable to lift his head due to his rubber neck.

House of Whacks is the second and most memorable segment in the episode, and possibly the entire show. It features one of The Simpsons' greatest celebrity cameos in Pierce Brosnan, who plays a HAL 9000 esque A.I which falls in love with Marge and attempts to murder Homer in order to replace him.

The last segment in the episode is Wiz Kids, a beginning of the unfortunate precedent of creating parodies of non horror films which plagues more modern Treehouse of Horror episodes. However, this one (a parody of Harry Potter) does quite a good job. It pits Lisa, an accomplished witch against Mr. Burns' evil Lord Montymort.

When not spending time writing bios about himself, Thomas enjoys pretending that the stories he's spent years writing are famous TV shows, achieving the same cult status as Twin Peaks or Lloyd in Space.
