8. Uncle Jack - Breaking Bad
As I talked about Gustavo Fring in a recent feature I thought I'd delve into a man who proved himself to be even more ruthless. 'Uncle' Jack Welker didn't have the same code of professionalism that Fring held to which made him unpredictable and dangerous. He was focused only on profit right until the bitter end and this mercantile attitude lead to some grisly set-pieces throughout latter seasons of Breaking Bad's run. Under the instruction of Walter White, currently at the height of his power, Jack is able to arrange for the murder of ten prison inmates within a two minute window. This isn't the only onscreen multiple murder he is responsible for as there is the shooting of Declan's gang at the behest of Lidia Rodarte-Quayle as well as the truly tragic sequence with Steve Gomez and Hank 'ASAC' Schrader. Sometimes the threat of death wasn't enough and people needed some persuading, as Jesse found out the hard way. They killed the woman he loved and forced him into slavery, which is obviously very dark stuff. Even when confronting his own death in the aftermath of Heisenberg's Neo-Nazi shooting rampage, the only thing he can think of to save him is money. Spoiler alert, it didn't. While he did have his own twisted moral code, it was mostly centred on his messed up family. Jack Welker was a force to be reckoned with and Walter White's intellect was the only thing that could stop him.
