10 Best TV Shows About Football

3. Forever Chape

Associação Chapecoense de Futebol, aka. Chapecoense, is a Brazilian football club operating in the heart of the city of Chapeco in the state of Santa Catarina. Having been formed as recently as 1973 with the hopes of giving the people in the city a team to root for, the side was hit by tragedy in 2016 when a plane carrying the team on their way to the Copa Sudamericana final crashed. 71 of the 77 passengers sadly lost their lives, with only three Chapecoense players surviving the tragedy.

Their opponents for the final, Atletico Nacional, awarded them the title that day and Chapecoense has since become immortalised for their solidarity, togetherness and courage in rebuilding what had been lost.

Forever Chape is one of the most groundbreaking documentary series that follows the club from its birth, rise up the Brazilian football pyramid, moment of tragedy and subsequent rebuilding process. Powerful and inspiring, it's the ultimate show for understanding exactly how football is much more than just eleven players kicking a ball around a pitch. A showcase of wider Brazilian society and how great things can emerge from times of tragedy, Forever Chape brings the most powerful story in football history to life in a way that no other show has managed before or since.
