10 Best TV Shows Of 2018 (So Far)
8. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
We were only given half of what's to be Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt's final season, with the rest not arriving until January 2019, but the episodes we did get were yet another six nuggets of joy.
The Tina Fey and Robert Carlock comedy has become one of the funniest on TV over the years, and Season 4 continued its style of firing out jokes like a machine gun (much like 30 Rock used to) in a way that makes it impossible to catch them all on just one watch.
Aside from the guaranteed laughs, the series showed a lot of heart and a surprising amount of invention too, given it's a sitcom with a weird concept in its fourth year. One highlight included an entire episode that skewered the true crime documentary format - and gave us another incredible guest turn from Jon Hamm - while there were musicals, triumphs, and even shades of it being a workplace comedy.
Ellie Kemper gives such an earnest, charming performance that it's impossible not to root for Kimmy, while Titus Burgess frequently brings the house down as support, and all the while the show manages to address some serious issues in a timely, well-thought-out manner too, melding genuine emotion and commentary to its cylinder.
