10 Best TV Shows That Were Never Made
9. Beverly Hills Cop Has Been At Various Stages Of Development Over The Years
Eddie Murphy broke a comedic glass ceiling when he headlined Beverly Hills Cop. Though he had touched on the buddy cop picture in the past, Martin Brest's fish out of water comedy further highlighted the comic's talents and paired him with not one, but a whole city full, of straight men. Though two sequels followed (the second Murphy referred to as "atrocious"), the future of the franchise has been up in the air, bouncing between TV and film.
In 2013, CBS approached TV writer and showrunner Shawn Ryan to shoot a pilot featuring Brandon T. Jackson as Murphy's son. Ryan's aim was to infiltrate the landscape of network procedurals and stealthily inject some social commentary.
Ultimately, CBS passed on the pilot and the franchise's future has ranged from hopeful - with Murphy on board after years of hesitation - to hopeless - with noted hacks like Brett Ratner attached at one point.
