10 Big TV Shows That Were Cancelled This Year (And Why)
7. Animals
HBO is a series known for taking risks, which is what they did with Animals back in 2015, ordering two seasons of the animated comedy, which had premiered at Sundance Festival that year.
The show features creators Phil Matarese and Mike Luciano playing a number of different animals, with a live-action human story then serving as the arc of each season, with a variety of guest stars lending their voices to a number of different creatures.
Animals received mixed reviews, but it still managed to score a third season renewal last year, but that proved to be its last. Despite some impressive names being involved in its third season - including Awkwafina, David Harbour, Lucy Liu, Carol Kane, Johnny Knoxville, Anthony Mackie, Tatiana Maslany, Demi Moore, Moby, Tracy Morgan, John Mulaney and many more - the comedy couldn't find an audience, averaging just 185,000 viewers to stand as one of HBO's least-watched series, which ultimately meant it had to go.
