Most notably, the show had a segment called the 'Soul Train Scramble Board,' in which two dancers were given one minute to unscramble a name. After Soul Train ended its run, host Don Cornelius made the revelation that the Scramble Board was actually fixed in every episode for the contestants to win. Cornelius claimed that this was something of a 'white lie', and done so as to portray African-American culture in a positive light, while making sure the contestants didn't look foolish on-air.
