10 Book Series That Would Make Great TV Shows

1. The Mistborn Series By Brandon Sanderson

eatseekplay.comeatseekplay.comProbably the best fantasy series we've read in a long time, the Mistborn Trilogy is mostly set in the fictional city of Luthadel, the capital city of The Final Empire, raised by the evil Lord Ruler after a prophesied hero failed to defeat him centuries before. Our heroine is a street urchin named Vin, who is running cons on nobility when she is discovered by the famed rebel leader Kelsier, who takes her into his gang as they seek to execute a plan to undermine the Lord Ruler's economy and overthrow him. The hook here is the concept of Allomancy: Allomancers are individual who, when they have ingested certain types of metal (via small flakes in vials of water) can perform magical feats. Most people can only use one type of metal, but Vin and Kelsier are Mistborn (ahhhh, that's why it's called that) meaning they can use all of them. Powers include pushing and pulling on metallic objects, enhancing one's own senses or physical ability, inflaming or calming the emotions of people nearby and even seeing into the future. For the twin leads, we'd have the duo of David Tennant, who could provide the abundant charisma the defines Kelsier and Karen Gillan as the steely determined Vin. This is our number one pick as the promise here is staggering. Sanderson has actually carried on writing about the world created in these novels, releasing the first part of the Wax & Wayne trilogy set 300 years after the final book and styled as a Western. Plenty of potential for spin-offs there. Been reading anything yourself that makes you think 'this would be glorious television?' Let us know in the comments below!
