Avatar The Last Airbender is a once in a lifetime product that was genuinely ahead of its time. The series was created for children but was so deep and nuanced that it became impossible for older viewers not to love it, and is still actively considered one of the best TV shows ever created.

A not so hidden, but very infrequent detail that was always welcomed was the appearance of The Cabbage Merchant. It seems that whenever team Avatar was rushing through a city, or needed to get something done, this poor peddler would be there, and would lose his precious cabbage stock to some dramatic incident.

This is funny enough but always made stronger by the emergence of the hilarious line "My cabbages!". This man really seemed to love his vegetables, and that made the continuous destruction of them hilarious and loveable.

The sequel series would take the joke even further by naming a major corporation after him, but the simplicity of the joke in the original series works best.
