10 Characters Who Should Recur On The Flash TV Series

1. Wally West

Wally West Before the New 52 initiative launched, Wally West was one of DC€™s most prominent fixtures. Not only was he Iris West€™s nephew, but he also helped Barry Allen fight crime as Kid Flash. Wally served as Barry€™s sidekick until the Crisis on Infinite Earths event when Barry gave his life to save the universe from the Anti-Monitor. Taking his mentor€™s name and costume, Wally became the new Flash for a new generation of comics readers. After Barry came back to life in Final Crisis, both men continued to use the Flash title, but unfortunately Wally slowly receded into the background as story-lines focused more on Barry. After the universe-changing events of Flashpoint, Wally disappeared entirely because due to the condensed events of the New 52 universe, Barry is a younger Flash and has never taken on a sidekick. However, Wally will soon return to DC Comics in the upcoming Flash Annual #3, although it probably won€™t be the same Wally that we remember so fondly. The tricky thing about using Wally for a Flash TV series is that Barry and Iris are already young. Barry has just become the Flash, so there€™s no way he€™d need or want a sidekick this soon, and the only way Wally could be Iris€™ nephew is if he was a baby or little kid. Wally should definitely have a prominent role in the series, but they€™ll need to adjust and relationship with Iris. Instead of her nephew, he should be her teenage brother. Since Barry supposedly will have lived with the Wests after his mother died, Wally would be very familiar with Barry and might even have a brotherly relationship with him. As for Kid Flash, this should be saved until the later seasons if possible. Barry needs to mature and grow into his role as the Flash, and adding Wally as his sidekick in the first or second season is moving way too fast, even for Flash. Assuming the show goes on for a while, I suggest that Wally gain his powers sometime at the end of the sixth or seventh season, although I wouldn€™t mind if he learned about Barry being the Flash in an earlier season. One stipulation I have for Wally€™s powers; don€™t repeat the lightning and chemicals method that gave Barry his speed like they did in the comics. Switch it up for Wally, whether it€™s an injection of a mysterious formula, technology that allows him to run fast, or anything along those lines. A lightning strike may have produced the impossible for Barry, but I doubt it would do the same for Wally if he tried.
