10 Classic TV Characters Who Weren't Added Until Later Seasons
7. Lane Pryce - Mad Men
Lane Pryce is the guy who punched Pete right in the face, so that alone makes him one of Mad Men's best characters.
Introduced at the beginning of the third season, Lane added so much to the last half of Mad Men. He's new to the United States, originally from London, helping to give a new perspective around an office which up until this point has been dominated by a lot of similar people.
He's a character with a strict upbringing and he takes his work fairly seriously, but he still manages to have a sense of humor that's always welcome in a show like this.
Mad Men can be a pretty tragic show, and Lane's story has got to be the saddest in the entire series. He comes to the United States from London, only to lose his wife as she leaves him and returns home. He's hit with a bunch of financial problems and, in a moment of desperation, embezzles $7,500 from the company. He's found out and is forced to resign. Overwhelmed from having lost his job in the midst of all these money problems, he takes his own life.
Jesus Christ that is awful.
Still, Lane added a lot to the show despite being a late addition, and his death ended up being one of the most emotional moments in an already pretty depressing series.
