10 Comic Book Characters Who Were Better On TV Than In Movies
5. Supergirl
It's no secret that the Supergirl movie from 1984 isn't very good. There is a somewhat endearing earnestness on display, mind you, especially on the part of lead actor Helen Slater. Even so, the film suffers from bad special effects, hokey dialogue and an overall lack of creative vision.
Probably the best thing that can be said about 1984's Supergirl is that it isn't as bad as 1987's Superman IV. And at that point, well, let's just say DC and company had nowhere to go but up.
The Last Daughter of Krypton made her return to live-action in Smallville, but wouldn't actually be the main character of her own project again until the 2015 premiere of CBS' Supergirl, which has since jumped ship to The CW as part of the Arrowverse line-up.
This development has been a huge step in the right direction for Kara Zor-El. Played by Melissa Benoist, the character leads the charge in what has arguably been the Arrowverse's best series up until this point in terms of consistent quality. In addition to being a well-acted, well-developed character on her own show, Benoist's Supergirl also definitely knows how to make her mark during the fan-favorite Arrowverse crossover events. And much like Grant Gustin's Flash, she shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.
