10 Confusing TV Show Questions We Still Don't Understand

7. Was The Azor Ahai Real? - Game Of Thrones

The list of grievances that fans had with HBO’s once beloved smash hit, Game of Thrones, is very long. From Bran randomly taking the throne to Dany’s rushed descent into madness, there was no shortage of things to be upset with.

One of the biggest narrative threads from the books that was never properly resolved in the show, however, was the legend of Azor Ahai.

According to prophecy, this legendary hero would wield the flaming sword Lightbringer and quite literally stab through the darkness. Theories considered the likes of Dany and Jon Snow as being this prophesied saviour. But in the end, nothing came of it.

During the climax of the Battle of Winterfell, it was Aria who slays the Night King. Now had this been a swerve and arguably the coolest among the Stark siblings was revealed as the real hero, fans would have most likely accepted it. Unfortunately, we didn’t even get that. The whole subplot was just dropped, seemingly forgotten.
