10 Craziest Fan Theories About Futurama

10. Everything After The What-If Machine Was Invented Is A "What If?"

In "Anthology of Interest" (Season 2, Episode 16), Professor Farnsworth uses a "What If" machine to show what life would be like in three hypothetical scenarios posed by Bender, Leela, and Fry (well, sort of -- he's actually using to to show what would happen if he invented a prosthetic device for making his finger longer, but that's beside the point). The episode ends with the Professor sitting in front of the "What If" machine, pondering hypothetical possibilities. One theory, voiced by genericEric on Futurama Madhouse, asks fans to consider if the rest of the show is simply broadcast on the "What If" machine, based on questions the Professor poses to his other-dimensional projector. The show did get increasingly creative as it went on -- maybe this was a turning point for the series. Plausibility: Low. What would be the point of changing intent behind the series so drastically? Plus, this is fiction - it's all been "what if," right from the beginning.
