Someone call Mr. Smith, we have a copyright issue on our hands. What if Westworld could be supplying some well needed respite through VR for war victims, the elderly, or just those with too much time on your hands. A place like Westworld is too large to conceivably manage being built, unless it was created in a virtual world. It would explain why we have seen no signs of the "outside world" apart from Bernard's video chat with his wife.
The biggest problem with the Matrix theory would be the fact that we see the Delos workers tinkering with the hosts- surely a gunned down Teddy Flood would just need to reset his pixels. It also wouldn't account for Dr. Ford's new narrative of blowing holes in the park for expansion
If The Sims taught us anything, it is that bulldozing is just a click away. Maybe further down the line it could be revealed that guests are uploading themselves to a virtual cloud like Black Mirror, but with Westworld planning to run for up to six seasons, letting that one out the bag this early is a no-no.
Sorry Westworld, I'm just not buying this one.
