10 Criminally Underrated X-Files Episodes
3. The Walk - S3E7
Jumping all the way back to the third season of The X-Files, you find The Walk, one of the "military" episodes of the show which, for a brief time, became something of a subgenre on the series. The military, after all, is an easy target for conspiracy theories, and The X-Files had several pertaining to America's armed forces.
In The Walk, Mulder and Scully encounter a quadruple amputee who is somehow channeling his rage and managing to (psychically, or so it would seem) assault and kill those he believes are to blame for his tragic lot in life.
At once a critique of the military establishment and its treatment of ex-soldiers, as well as an examination of the horrors of war, The Walk is a much better episode than many of its reviews suggest, and is elevated by the obvious, intense emotion brought to the table by the episode's supporting cast of characters, including the aforementioned antagonist, Rappo (played by Ian Tracey, who recently appeared in Man of Steel).
