One of the most powerful forces in the DC universe is also one of its most elusive - The Anti-Life Equation. And thank goodness for that, because there's one guy who is more than willing to burn this entire universe to the god damn ground to get his hands on it - Darkseid.
For decades, we were never really sure what it was the Anti-Life equation actually DID aside from its name giving us the general idea that Darkseid getting his hands on it was probably not the best idea. But that all changed in Final Crisis when Grant Morrison showed us in all its horrifying glory EXACTLY what the equation does.
The equation goes beyond simple mind control. It's more like Darkseid replacing your will and consciousness with his own, making anyone it affects nothing more than meat puppets for his own will.
Under the Anti-Life Equation, humanity is just a planet filled with chattel slaves for Darkseid, with only the lucky few managing to avoid this fate and reverse its effects. But it cannot be stated enough how lucky we got in that happening at all.
