You have to feel for Krusty the Clown, who reunited with his father only to eventually have the man pass away right in front of his eyes. Of course, that was spread out over decades - but time on the show doesn't pass the way it does in the real world, so we have no real idea of how long they've been reconciled by the time "Clown in the Dumps" rolled around at the beginning of season twenty-six. Of course, it doesn't help that Krustofski dies just as Krusty is asking him if his father finds his comedy funny, and the episode turns into a sullen search for how Krusty's dad truly felt about him. The "dying in front of your adult son" thing is still pretty disturbing however and the fact that we saw it play out in stark real time was a brave move.
