10 Doctor Who Companions Who Were Better Than Their Doctors

The sidekicks who stole the show.

Everybody knows that the Doctor is a show off who enjoys nothing more than having people around him to show off too. It's a real mystery, then, that he insists on choosing to travel with people who are so good that they march into the TARDIS and waste no time in claiming it as their own. It€™s a strength of the show that the competition is often fierce and there are many occasions when the companions are just too good for him. They swell up and engulf him with their huge screen presence and crush the life out of him by taking over the scene for themselves. What makes so many of these companions overshadow the Doctor is the sense that they herald from their very own spin off shows. They could carry their own series just as well as the Doctor carries his. Most of them wouldn€™t even need a TARDIS, either, as they could simply make breakfast and it would still be brilliant to watch. They have their own stories and their own agendas and sometimes they€™re so good that they have more time devoted to them than the Doctor (with the notable exception of Clara Oswald, of course, who had an entire series devoted to her story but lacked any sense of character to fall back on). In honour of those who stole the show, here is our countdown of 10 Doctor Who companions who were way better than their Doctor. Because, sometimes, it doesn't have to be all about him.
