10 Doctor Who Episodes You MUST Watch Before The 60th Anniversary
3. The End Of Time
As the final chapter of RTD’s first era, and his most recent Doctor Who story to date, The End of Time is one you’re going to want to revisit before the 60th.
It’s a significant story for both the Doctor and Donna, and though conceived as a grand finale, in retrospect it’s more of a comma than a full stop.
It's the end of the road for the Tenth Doctor, but when it comes to David Tennant’s Doctor Who journey that’s now only half the story. Similarly, it’s more of a prologue for the next stage of Donna's life as a wife and mother. It introduces us to her husband, Shaun (a character whose return definitely wasn’t on our bingo card), setting the stage for the Noble clan to expand.
The End of Time was also the last story for Donna’s mum, Sylvia, but most of all, it’s a showcase for her gramps, Wilf – who, for one story only, fills the boots of his granddaughter and becomes a companion.
It’s also another example of destiny having a hand in events, with Wilf being the (unwitting) agent of the Tenth Doctor’s demise. Was this part of the Toymaker’s master plan? Anything’s possible.
