10. The Breen Badasses Who Were Never Bad
The Breen, really? I hear ya! Why are they on the list? After all they were the bad asses that turned the tide of the Dominion War against the Federation. However, I ask you to name me one kick ass fight scene. Cant? Thats probably because all you ever see them do is fire a phaser rifle or poke someone with a torture stick. Anyone can fire a phaser rifle, and the last time I checked torture was pretty wimpy! To make matters worse, their language is unintelligible. All you hear is muffled gobly gook that is never translated. So perhaps the Breen are saying something thats really scary and sinister but they could just as easily be reciting a Breen cupcake recipe you just dont know. That right there looses them an enormous amount of bad ass points. More points are lost because their body is encased in a body suit complete with helmet. Anything could be in there and since the Breen do not do hand to hand combat, I choose to think that it is something cute and furry. Weapons technology was the only thing that this race had going for it. Rendering Federation ships adrift in space without power is pretty impressive seeing as you have to take out the back-up systems as well. However, once the Klingon ships provided a blueprint to counteract that, it was the last we heard of them. Bottom Line: If I can't see you, I cant understand you and your one weapon has been fouled - I am not afraid of you! Go away! Mysterious is not the new interesting.
