10 Dumbest Decisions In Buffy The Vampire Slayer
8. Siring Your Own Mother – Spike (Season 7, Episode 17)
‘Lies My Parents Told Me’ features a number of flashbacks into Spike’s past in the late nineteenth century. During this time, his mother – Anne Pratt – suffered from tuberculosis, and in order to save her from dying, Spike turned her into a vampire.
Having lost her soul, Anne taunted her son, saying she had despised him and his poetry, which she described as ‘witless prattle’. Spike, unable to see his mother full of so much hatred, was forced to kill her.
Even though his mother was the first person he sired (turned into a vampire), he should have known it was a bad idea. He himself had experienced what it was like to transform. And having spent a number of days with the wicked Drusilla, he was already familiar with the consequences of losing one’s soul.
Sure, his intentions were noble, but Spike should have accepted his mother’s fate and waited for her to die naturally.
