1. The Doctor (Doctor Who)

The Doctor is, of course, the title character in the long-running and incredibly popular BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who - which first aired in 1963 and is ongoing. He is a Time Lord, an alien from the planet Gallifrey, who famously travels through time and space in a highly advanced time machine called the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space) which appears relatively small when seen from the outside, like a telephone box, but is in fact infinite on the inside (causing the utterance of the words "it's bigger on the inside" on countless occasions). He essentially explores the universe (both in terms of locations and time periods) as he pleases, using his incredible intellect and helpful nature to avert whatever crisis he encounters. Although friendly, witty and generally light-hearted, he has a ruthless streak that he isn't afraid to show when it comes to saving the universe - something he has done countless times - from evil, less likeable alien creatures such as the Daleks and the Cybermen. The character famously has the ability to regenerate, which enables new actors to take over the role every now and then (with Peter Capaldi announced as the new Doctor in the next series). He is, undoubtedly, the most popular alien to have regularly appeared on our television screens. So there you have it; Ten extremely likeable TV aliens. Do you like the examples on this list?
