3. Boardwalk Empire
This one is a bit of a cheat since the latest season of Boardwalk started last week, but since it was only the premiere I'm including it on the list anyway. Boardwalk Empire is a great show which explores the Roaring Twenties and the evolution of gangland America during this sensitive era. After last season's great finale, Nucky Thompson is further isolating himself from Atlantic City, really working behind the scenes to keep himself safe. His only close contact seems to his butler/bodyguard and his brother Eli as Margaret is seemingly nowhere to be found. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOfeK-VATLA Though Nucky has realized his mistakes, he still remains in the mob and liquor business as a solitary figure. The immediate danger has passed, but now he's pissed off Arnold Rothstein by partly giving him up to the feds. A new threat looms though in the form of Jeffrey Wright's Dr. Valentin Narcisse, a philanthropist from Harlem who has aspirations for Nucky and Atlantic City. What his purpose is remains a mystery (he didn't even show up in the premiere, but several mentions were made of Harlem and Brooklyn), but rest assured it can mean nothing good for Nucky. Add to the fact that the trailers hint he'll try wooing Chalky White over to his side it really looks like more trouble is coming for Nucky.
