The 31st century may offer brain slugs, Liu-bots and high-speed transport tubes but, thankfully, there is still high demand for the humble soap opera. Only now, they've got robots in 'em. And the most popular example is the long-running and insanely addictive All My Circuits, a near-incomprehensible telenovela where no plot twist is considered too ridiculous. The show's success practically hinges on its lead, the vainglorious and magnificently-voiced acting unit Calculon. They really don't make them like him any more. If he isn't falling to knees and screaming 'Nooooo!' (usually in response to having discovered yet another 'terrible secret'), he's struggling to work out which of his friends -including the token human- hasn't been struck by a sudden bout of amnesia. With storylines like this, it's easy to see just why it draws in the crowd: such a magnetic mix of metal, mystery and melodrama is just too good to miss.
