10 Freaks That Inspired The New American Horror Story

3. Edouard Beaupré The Giant

No freak show is complete without a giant and it looks like American Horror Story will have Amazon Eve being portrayed by Erika Ervin who is 2.03 metres tall. Even taller, Edouard Beaupré clocked in at 2.51 metres and was still growing when he died. A Fransaskois, Beaupre€™s growth in his first three years was normal. However, Beaupr這s growth rate accelerated, and by the age of nine, he was 1.83 metres tall. At 180 kilograms as an adult he joined the circus and performed feats of strength. Reportedly, he could lift horses that were as heavy as 410 kilograms. Beaupr這s rapid growth took a toll on his body and he died of tuberculosis at 23 in St Louis. His father attempted to recover his body but didn€™t have enough money to pay for the return trip to Saskatchewan. Thusly, his agent had him embalmed, but the circus refused to pay for the body to be shipped home, so the agent put him on display to recoup his money. After the circus folded, Beaupr這s embalmed corpse found its way into a window display for a store, sat in the Eden Museum and another circus. When that circus folded, his corpse was abandoned in a warehouse only to be discovered and claimed by the University of Montreal for research. The Giant finally came home in 1990 when he was cremated and his ashes buried near a statue of him in his hometown.
