Oberyn Martell's tale is a whirlwind one. He was the rock star of Westeros, with wine, women and war never far from his mind. His exotic introduction to King's Landing ruffled feathers among the elite, and quickly worked his way into the hearts of fans. It was only a matter of time before he was taken down brutally. His death was barbaric, and the timing of it was particularly shocking given the fact that he was being built up to become a major player, but that's exactly what Thrones does. However, it still felt like Oberyn had more to give, and that his character was just starting to be developed into a person of real significance. Dorne could have used a strong presence like him during Season 5, despite his wife Ellaria Sand doing her best to dominate, but it wasn't to be.
