The notoriously nasty season 4 episode Home introduces Mulder and Scully to the Peacocks, a band of severely inbred brothers living in a dilapidated home dating back to the US Civil War. Between home invasion murders, booby traps and dead babies, this episode was harsh enough before the dreaded mother reveal.
Determined to figure out how the brothers are producing children without any known female member of the household being present, Mulder and Scully break in.
What came next unsettled viewers at the time so greatly that Fox vowed to never air the episode again. Hidden under the bed is the quadruple amputee Mrs Peacock who has been breeding with her sons for goodness knows how long.
