9. The Red Wedding - Game of Thrones
Alright, so if you're like me and have already read the books, this was one death you did see coming. And if you know anything about George R.R. Martin, you know he has no problem viciously executing people you love. Regardless, a huge portion of the audience was unaware that this wedding, which is supposed to be a happy occasion, would end up escalating into a full-scale massacre remarkably quickly. And it's not like they were willing to kill off just one person, to make a statement and show that they mean business. Nope. They were out for blood, and wanted to prove to the world once and for all that you do not break a promise where the Freys are concerned. Because they will bring you down. Goodbye Robb, Talia, unborn baby, Catelyn, Grey Wind, and many others. This may not have been the wedding you had in mind, but we'll always remember it.
