10 Hidden Family Guy Jokes Everybody Missed

8. The Passion Of The Christ 2 Gag Has An Extra Pay-Off

Fox

'North by North Quahog' was the first Family Guy episode after it was saved from the cancellation dump and it was a welcome return to form. There are meta and self-referential jokes, there are character jokes, and there were endless references to pop-culture, specifically Mel Gibson and the film 'The Passion of the Christ'.

Whilst the gag about the movie was pretty funny, the joke had one final pay-off that many may have missed. During the trailer of the fictional Christ sequel, Jesus dons a pair of sunglasses, somehow gets squeaky-sounding Chris Tucker as a partner, participates in gun fights, and drives around in a sports car. All this makes up an incredibly funny minute or so but some eagle-eyed fans noticed that Jesus' number-plate wrapped everything up in a nice little bow.

The licence plate features the letters 'WWID', which is short for 'What Would I Do' and an obvious but chuckle worthy play on the popular phrase 'What Would Jesus Do?'.

My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem. Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh. You can follow me at @Fry_ying_pan but don't be offended if I don't tweet back. It's usually because I've spent too long trying to think up a witty response that the reply window has closed.
