10 Horror Anime To Keep You Up At Night
9. Tokyo Ghoul
Tokyo Ghoul is a series about man-eating monsters living among the humans of Tokyo that surprisingly has plenty of heart. Apparent creatures of nightmare, ghouls prowl the city passing off as regular people and slaughtering their victims using their eerie and sharp appendages known as kagune.
When shy bookworm Ken Kaneki goes out on a date with a nice girl with similar literary interests, it would appear that his day couldn’t possibly get any better. That is until his date tries to eat him.
Everything goes from bad to worse for Kaneki, as a freak accident and an experimental organ transplant turn him into a half-ghoul hybrid. His new condition forces him to seek other ghouls, only to discover that despite their disgusting diet, not all of them are bloodthirsty beasts. In fact, it turns out that some humans are far worse than any man-eating monster.
Though it may not be as great as its source material, Tokyo Ghoul is still an interesting and unnerving horror anime that, between sickening scenes of torture and young girls consuming human flesh, offers some truly emotional moments.
