10 Incredible TV Actors Who Seem To Have Totally Disappeared
2. Nicholas Brendon
What ever happened to the man that was Xander Harris? One of the core trio from Buffy The Vampire Slayer (the Scoobies, not the season six bad guys), Nicholas Brendon shone year after year as the heart of the group. He was bold, reckless and very funny. He fell for all the wrong women (or demons), but he truly helped to save the world. A lot. When Buffy ended, we all wondered what was next for these actors who had played our beloved characters for several years. Alyson Hannigan did well in the American Pie films and as one of the five main stars of How I Met Your Mother. Anthony Head has appeared everywhere, from Doctor Who to a long-running role in Merlin. David Boreanaz is the leading man in Bones after Angel wrapped up. James Marsters appeared in every geek TV show going, from Caprica and Smallville to Warehouse 13. (As did Anthony Head). Sarah Michelle Gellar didn't do as well, though she did a number of Hollywood films and got one short-lived series Ringer before jumping into another show, The Crazy Ones in 2013. But poor Nicholas Brendon? He just doesn't get the attention all the other show's stars did. In recent years he played a rapist in Private Practice and pops up as Garcia's techie love interest twice a seas0n in Criminal Minds. But he just doesn't seem to be on our TV screens much at all. He certainly doesn't get to shine like the rest of his Buffy co-stars.
A writer for Whatculture since May 2013, I also write for TheRichest.com and am the TV editor and writer for Thedigitalfix.com . I wrote two plays for the Greater Manchester Horror Fringe in 2013, the first an adaption of Simon Clark's 'Swallowing A Dirty Seed' and my own original sci-fi horror play 'Centurion', which had an 8/10* review from Starburst magazine! (http://www.starburstmagazine.com/reviews/eventsupcoming-genre-events/6960-event-review-centurion) I also wrote an episode for online comedy series Supermarket Matters in 2012. I aim to achieve my goal for writing for television (and get my novels published) but in the meantime I'll continue to write about those TV shows I love!
