10 Insane Alternate Versions Of Batman You Won't Believe Exist
8. 1889 Batman
Taking place in 1889, Gotham by Gaslight is another Elseworlds comic (the first actually). The story features many characters you know and love as they were, including Inspector Gordon, and places them at the turn of the century. And there is of course only one bad guy who Batman could face during this time period. Jack the Ripper. The story pits the world's greatest detective against the worlds most notorious uncaught murderer. Things don't go incredibly smoothly though as Bruce is pegged for the killings. He is forced to solve the case and beak out the prison before he is executed, which he does (obviously, he is Batman) and confronts the Ripper himself. Also of note, before Arkham Asylum came out, this was an actual thing. Unfortunately the company making it couldn't get the rights to it so it has since been canned.
