10 Insane TV Details You Never Noticed

9. Jamm's Japanese Sign Actually Says "North Korea" - Parks & Recreation

The Sopranos
NBC

Jeremy Jamm (Jon Glaser) is among Parks and Rec's most hilarious supporting characters, and one of his defining traits is a superficial obsession with Asian culture, albeit without actually understanding much about it.

The funniest payoff to this was totally missed by most fans, as in season six's episode "The Cones of Dunshire," Leslie (Amy Poehler) and Chris (Rob Lowe) visit Jamm's home where he makes them an "authentic" Japanese breakfast of scrambled eggs.

On the wall behind him is a canvas print in Japanese Kanji which the majority of viewers simply won't be able to understand, and therefore probably assume it spells out a wise or calming quote.

But in actual fact, the sign translates to "North Korea," brilliantly underlining just how disingenuous Jamm's apparently encyclopedic knowledge of everything Asian actually is.
