10 Interesting Things The Big Bang Theory Taught Us About Science

1. Human Biology - The Man Cycle

Big Bgna Episode 19 of season 3 features Sheldon once again divulging some interesting information, and while this may focus less on the scientific it is one of the most interesting. Leonard is rightfully upset following a break-up with Penny after she was unable to return his affectionate phrase of "I love you." Howard jokingly mentions that Leonard's attitude may be due to "manstruating" and Sheldon retorts that "since the 17th century scientists have noted a 33-day hormonal cycle in men." It's been researched and discovered that men have more than just one hormonal cycle. Men have monthly cycles that are unique to each man and have seasonal cycles as well with testosterone peaks in November and lows in April. Men even experience a "male menopause" known as "andropause" and also have been known to experience a condition called Irritable Male Syndrome that is similar to PMS. So, how about that guys? All the years men have joked about women and their hormones and yet are simple victims as well too embarrassed to reach out and discuss their feelings. We're certain there are plenty of other interesting scientific facts the Big Bang Theory has dished out over the years. Whether it be Physics or Neuroscience, Chemistry or Biology there's still plenty we have to learn from our favorite scientists. What did we miss?
