Back in 2010 zombies still only appealed to a niche audience, one that had admittedly been growing steadily for some time prior. Frank Darabont was showrunner, lending it a high profile name to attract those skeptical of the premise. Could a serialized drama set during the zombie apocalypse really be successful? Four years later, and the answer is a resounding yes. Not only was the first season a success, but it has since become one of the most watched shows in television history. Each season brings in more and more viewers who can't help but get invested in Rick and the groups' ongoing struggle to survive. However, The Walking Dead is far from a perfect show. In fact, there are instances where it is downright mediocre, and this is because there are substantial issues that hold it back.
