10 Major Problems With The Walking Dead

8. The Environment

Not helping things in regards to The Walking Dead€™s repetition and dullness is the lack of variety in the environments. For both narrative and production purposes the setting has remained in Georgia. Sure, it makes filming easier and cost effective, but that comes at the expense of creating interesting environments for the characters to interact with. Even more disappointing is that within the confines of the Georgian environment the show has yet to utilize the weather. Each season conveniently takes place a year or so later. We never get to see the group attempt to survive a particularly cold and brutal winter. Every season is hot and sweaty. The group really needs a mission; a reason to move away from Georgia to someplace else. At this point in the series they have the perfect opening, since Rick€™s group has crossed paths with another looking for a cure. With the prison gone, there is no reason to stay in Georgia. Hopefully the next season will capitalize on this opportunity; the show really needs the excitement of exploring new places.
