10 Major Problems With The Walking Dead

5. It's Aimless

Even with lacking characters or drama, a good solid plot can keep most shows going as long as it is interesting. Alas, The Walking Dead doesn€™t even have that. It did during its freshman season, with Rick trying to find his family and then the CDC. But after that failed, the show has been on auto pilot since. It€™s hard not to sympathize with the writers of The Walking Dead because coming up with a goal for the characters other than survive in a show about surviving is hard. Sure, it makes sense for the characters to settle down and attempt to live a normal life, but that doesn€™t generate much dramatic content. It just goes to show you how difficult it actually is to tell a zombie story in a long and drawn out fashion. Keeping the group at a prison makes sense logically (it€™s a pretty good plan) but generates little compelling drama and can get boring. Yet when the Governor crashes the place it feels like an artificial means of keeping things exciting. It€™s either monotonous or dumb, and either way, something feels wrong. Given all that though, if you are somebody who just wants to watch a show about people trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world (which is all the rage right now), The Walking Dead is a decent outlet for that interest. But no matter what is happening with Rick and the group, there is always this nagging feeling that it could be so much better.
