10 Majorly Hyped TV Series That Disappointed Us
9. Terra Nova
A new and exciting Sci-Fi TV series, based on an idea by Kelly Marcel, and with the executive producing hand of Steven Spielberg himself?! Surely this was going to be the next big thing in TV. Well, instead, what viewers got was mediocre at best and unwatchable at worst, so there's no doubt it was a massive letdown.
Terra Nova hit the small screen in 2011, and the build-up to its release was impossible to ignore. Not only was the name of the legendary Spielberg attached, but it promised a high budget concept about time travel and human survival. It looked cool, had a strong cast/crew, and even featured Dinosaurs from the guy who made Jurassic Park. How could it fail?
Well, the first big issue with the show was the poor VFX. The CGI used looked cheap and unconvincing, completely disregarding it as a visual feast of a show. It could have made up for this if the story and characters were good (just look at Doctor Who), but it didn't have that on its side either, as the corny script was painful to sit through, and the characters were stiff and wooden.
