10 Marvel Superheroes Who Should Join The Defenders

10. Shaman

First appearing in Uncanny X-Men #120, Michael Twoyoungmen was a skilled surgeon until his wife died following a battle with an unspecified terminal illness. Retreating into the wild, Michael trained in the mystical powers passed down by his grandfather, before eventually being recruited by Alpha Flight and assuming the codename, Shaman. He has the powers of astral projection, teleportation and telepathy; he can also commune with animals and spirits, as well as cast mild illusions and heal himself using his restoration powers. How To Introduce The Character Seeing as how Dr. Strange, a previous member of The Defenders in the comics, is getting his own movie later this year, Shaman is the perfect character to introduce some of the more magical elements of the Marvel universe into the show. He€™s not too overpowered, and his powers of telepathy and illusion could lead to an interesting dynamic with Jessica Jones, who would of course be distrusting of such abilities due to her experiences with the master of manipulation, Killgrave. Shaman€™s medicine pouch could also be an interesting plot point in the series, it being essentially a gateway to a void-like dimension in which Shaman stores the source of his powers, including his many potions and magical objects. If it ended up in the wrong hands, there€™s no telling what could happen, thus making it the perfect catalyst for the various members of the team finally coming together as one. Finally, the introduction of Shaman would consequential result in the casting of the first Native American actor to appear in the MCU, which can only be a good thing.
