Viewers outside of the US might be unfamiliar with this fire cracker of a judge, but you should definitely enjoy just a fraction of Mary Murphy's history. She appears on the US version of So You Think You Can Dance and is a ballroom dancer and choreographer - putting her in good stead for her role on SYTYCD. Like every good judge, Mary fills the kind maternal archetype. She sits between two male counterparts and offers a far more gentle way of delivering feedback to dancers on the show. But so many female judges fill this role around the world right? What makes her so special? Well Mary has cracked the personality gimmick trick wide-open and has mastered a unique way to stand out in the crowded talent show world. Her signature? Well she is known for screaming incredibly loud and enthusiastically at contestants when she is impressed with a dance. One of her more dominant go-to's is when she refers to the dancers as hot tamales. But when a contestant performs an outstanding number, Mary takes things to a new level and declares they are on the "hot tamale train" - much to Nigel Lythgoes disapproval. It is high energy and over the top that lifts a live studio audience and also motivates other contestants to achieve the same. She has been on every season so far except one and looks set to hold her seat for years to come. Watch Mary listen for the 'train' below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grDZzM1-LF8
