10. The Show Was Based On The Creator's Experience At A Real Community College
Dan Harmon, the comedic genius behind both Community and Rick & Morty, attended a Community College in his early 30s where he took a Spanish class with his now ex-girlfriend. Though he may have lost touch with the girlfriend, he held onto the positive experiences he had with his study group, which would later blossom into the idea for the show we all now know and love.
It'd be interesting to find out which character Harmon based off of himself. It's almost definitely Shirley.
