Although it's The Censor Board's job to ensure nothing inappropriate occurs in a children's show, some of their stipulations were ridiculous. Not only are all the police armed with lasers instead of guns but there are only three punches thrown in the entire series! Most of the fights involve "weird wrestling moves" according to one producer.

Words like "kill," "death," and "sinister" were banned. As a result, no one was allowed to say Uncle Ben was killed. Instead, Peter Parker says, “A criminal broke into the house. Ben tried to stop him… but the burglar was armed.”

The word “radiation” was removed because the Censor Board were worried the word would scare children e.g. microwaves, satellites, etc. Nevertheless, the word "radioactive" is uttered in the intro of every episode.

Since the show couldn't depict blood, it was a problem when Spidey battled the vampire, Morbius. To get around this, it was stated that Morbius drinks plasma, not blood. However, the Censor Board were also worried that depicting a vampire drinking from a person's neck looked too "homoerotic" and so, the script was changed so Morbius could only absorb plasma from his hands, not his fangs.

So Spider-Man's greatest enemy wasn't the Green Goblin... it was censorship.
