10 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Farscape
3. Here To Stay
A common trope in series like Farscape is the ever revolving door of one-off alien characters making an appearance, causing some trouble, and then either being killed off or sent back out into the void of space. It's a popular trope still being used today whether in Supernatural, Doctor Who, and even The Mandalorian.
Sometimes, these characters leave such an impression on fans and producers of shows, they're brought back in later episodes or become part of the main cast. Whether it's for story possibilities or due to the actor's portrayal, on rare occasion a one-time appearance may turn into a longer stint on a show.
One of the most popular characters, the young Nebari Chiana, was originally meant to be one of these short-lived characters. Literally. Plans to kill the character at the end of "Durka Returns" were thwarted when the cast, crew, and producers (especially David Kemper) fell in love with Gigi Edgley's performance so much she became a permanent crew member of Moya.
Another character who survived beyond her one episode?
Gilina, the Peacekeeper tech girl featured in, aptly named, "PK Tech Girl." She was originally meant to die that episode, but Producer David Kemper liked the character so much he spared her. Gilina would return for two more episodes later in the season.
