10 More Overlooked Buffy The Vampire Slayer Episodes That Are Secretly Classics

6. Dead Things (Season 6, Episode 13)

Easily one of the darkest chapters in the entire Buffy saga, 'Dead Things' has a reputation for its disturbing and highly-charged sexual content that more often than not overshadows its quality.

Prior to this episode, The Trio had been shown to be mostly inept in their schemes, being more of a mild-irritant to Buffy than an outright threat. With this episode though, everything changed.

After creating a device known as a 'Ceberal Dampener', Warren is able to mind-control his ex-girlfriend Katrina into being The Trio's servant. Before he's able to do anything truly heinous with her, the spell is broken and she tries to escape, but not before Warren bashes her head in.

Ever the devious bastard, Warren then uses magic to make Buffy believe that she was the one who killed Katrina. This comes at a time where Buffy begins to question what she has become after her resurrection, as well as reevaluating the self-destructive and deeply unhealthy sexual relationship she shares with Spike. With several scenes showing just close to the breaking point she is, Sarah Michelle Gellar really gets to flex her acting muscles in numerous highly charged scenes.

It'll likely make your skin crawl, but its audacity shouldn't be ignored.
