10 Most Badass Buffy The Vampire Slayer Baddies
1. Glory
Over the years, Buffy has fought a wide gamut of beasts and creatures – from your bread and butter vampires to vengeful spirits, demons of all shapes and sizes and even a handful of robots. Season five antagonist Glory, however, is a God. So, she's got that going for her, which is nice.
Taking the shapely form of a well turned out woman in her 30s, the well dressed deity makes an unusually early appearance for the season's chief villain – indeed, more of the fifth season is dedicated to Glory (or Glorificus, to give her her full name) than other season antagonists tend to get.
More so even than the 100 foot long Mayor, Glory just seems unbeatable. For the majority of her screen time, anything our heroes throw at her bounce right off. Add to that her ability with a signature Whedon quip and her particularly nasty special move (jamming her fingers into victims' brains, leaving them a jibbering shadow of their former selves), and you've got one of TV's most fiendish and scary monsters, easy on the eye or not.
As if that weren't enough, her end goal is to capture Buffy's sister Dawn, who turns out to be the key to Glory's homecoming (having been kicked out of another realm, for her general bad behaviour). This one gets truly personal, and leads to the Slayer making the ultimate sacrifice. After all she's managed to overcome, this is one fight Buffy can win only by surrendering her own life.
