9. How I Met Your Mother

The ending might have left something of a bad taste in everyone's mouth but that's hardly the first time a big show has failed to stick the ending and fans continue to flock to How I Met Your Mother as one of the best post-Friends sitcoms of the last decade or so.
A lot of those sitcoms have found new life thanks to streaming, which is quickly replacing the traditional heavy rotation syndication model of old, and How I Met Your Mother's short episodes make it perfect for binging. While there are obviously longer-form story arcs throughout - like the question of the title, Lily and Marshall's journey to first marry, then conceive, and Barney's... sex quests, let's say - the episodes exist as short bursts of entertainment, marrying humour with sometimes weightier emotional episodes.
That's presumably why the show does so well for CBS in streaming terms, as fans look for a way to hold on to their beloved show even after it came to an end in 2014. Five years on, it's still going strong.
