When Seth Rogen first made a splash in Hollywood, he perfected the stoner comedy; the high, likable goof with a great pop culture frame of reference and excellent deadpan delivery. But it's always a pleasure to learn that popular figures share the same, nerdy interests as you.

Enter Preacher, Rogen and writing partner Evan Goldberg's adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's comic saga. The series follows a hard-drinking preacher in a small community and a dwindling congregation who is suddenly imbued with a mind-controlling superpower as he literally searches for an absentee God along with the assistance of his vampire companion.

A joyfully bizarre entry in AMC's canon, Preacher is unapologetically gory, featuring bodies exploding - viscera everywhere - and massive holes through bodies. None of this is, given Rogen's nature, done without a sense a humour, making it a blood-splattered good time. What can you expect from a show that features Hitler as a supporting character?

The fourth and final season concluded last September, but it was nice while it lasted.
