9. Buffy revealing she was in fact in Heaven in Once More With Feeling
The finale of season five saw our favorite vampire slayer die (more on that later) and, we assumed, trapped in a Hell dimension. Plot twist, she wasn’t.
After being brought back in the two part premiere next season, Buffy revealed a few episodes later to Spike that she was in fact, in Heaven. Now, this didn’t seem to be too detrimental to the other characters as she told Spike “The others can never know”. Jump forward a few weeks to the incredible musical episode, ‘Once More With Feeling’, and a singing demon who forces his victims to reveal the truth is loose in Sunnydale. Just as we’re approaching the close of the episode Buffy finally says – well sings – that she was in Heaven all along.
Her best friends and her sister then have to face the realization they dragged her from a peaceful afterlife back to a world where she has to face constant death, fighting and the pressure it comes with being a Slayer. We couldn’t help but resent our favorite characters just a little bit, and that hurt.
