4. Fire Lord Ozai - Avatar The Last Airbender

If there was any character who could serve as the epitome of human greed, it’s Ozai. Born as the second Prince of the Fire Nation, even from a young age Ozai craved power. As he grew older, his beliefs not only agreed with his nation’s colonial policies but coupled it with a heavy dose of economic suppression and ethnocide.

Eventually, his lust for power would start to consume those around him. He first plotted to usurp his older brother Iroh to seize the throne. When that didn’t work, he committed the ultimate sin and assassinated his own father using his wife’s abilities. The latter was only forced into this plan after Ozai had threatened to kill their only son to keep his standing in the royal family.

After taking command and banishing his wife so she may never reveal the truth to anyone, he channeled his aggression on the rest of the world. Years down the line, when his son Zuko protested some of the cruel tactics, he burned half his face off.

His final and most abhorrent act of brutality came during the show’s end when he was willing to use the power of a comet to wipe out the entire Earth Kingdom, an entire kingdom and all its people, just because he was struggling to assert full colonial control over them.
